1st time for sooooo many yrs, that i earned quick money!! haha....Was fun too... Thanks to Chin Pern!! haha....
Was to report for work at 930am on Sat with Shawaluddin, my fellow colleague in office...Anyway, Din oso haven found the person we supposed to report to, Calvin Lee... We dun even noe who is it...
After i reached, Din called him, and he only say he is at the floating platform... There were ppl allocating work to do at the stage area, so we stood there, hoping for them to call our names. But in the end, we stood in front of the stage there, waited for a long time, din see him, din call us oso...
So we called Calvin again, then he appeared... Told us stand in front of the satge again, the someone allocate us our location, told us to wait there for him to brief us. So we 乖乖 waited there for more than half hour, he still din come over. Din & i then went over to look for him, he then told us to follow him go office collect the things and our T-shirts...
He briefed us abt wat to do and how to do, then we came out. We were supposed to let ppl sign on the forms before they can take any boat rides and issue them with number tags for identification. The forms are for -in case of emergency, we know who is the next-of-kin to call and they acknowledge that in case of emergencies, the organisers will not be responsible for anything..
So we setup the 'stall', alot of ppl started to register for the free rides... The free boat rides includes normal boat rides, banana boats, jet-ski, sailboats and dragonboats... Most ppl took the banana boat rides, normal boats and jet-ski... Dragon boats need to be specially arranged and needs 4 ppl to sail, so no one actuali asked for it....
The day started very busy. As i din eat any breakfast, i got reali hungry after awhile... So got to call Chin Pern to buy some breakfast for me.. Cos he haven turned up for work yet... He worked late the previous nite, doin the setting up...
Seems busy, then Chin Pern got another guy to help us... Everything seems quite messy and blur.. But things get quite settled down afterwards... Lunch and dinner were provided...
Ppl are even dressed in bikinis for the rides...abit exaggerating rite?? Saw one of the lifeguards who reali looked like Nick!! But a skinny & fitter version of him...haha... He reali looked alot like Nick 9yrs ago... ;p
Weather is very hot... But rained in the morning, even the platform had smoke comin out when the rain hit on it...Chan Ah Huat is there doin security... Poor thing, he kept walking around under the hot sun... In the end, he was sunburnt!
Looking at the ppl taking the rides, makes me wanted to go for the rides oso... Our work ended at 6pm cos no more rides were allowed after 6pm, cos its getting dark due to safety reasons... So we idled there, till waited for our packed dinner, then they say wan to debrief... So we packed the barang & waited till 9pm, until the guy told us we can go home, come back for briefing early at 9am the next day.
Wah lao...shld haf told us earlier, then we could go back early for at least half hr mah...
The next day. Chin Pern took his fren, Kiat's car, so they came and pick me up at ard 830am. The pig overslept in the morning, so we could only haf packed breakfast!
We reached at 930am, cos the roads was jammed as the army half marathon was goin on, and Kiat dropped us by the roadside. We walked in the floating platform, luckily there was no briefing. haha... But the whole place was packed. as the ending point was in front of the floating platform and they had condorned off some of the entrances to the floating platform.
After having my breakfast, we went to collect our new shirts for the day and the barang barang... Din and me and the rest of the part-timers, went in and out alot of times as we could not get in the floating platform, the army ppl had sealed the entrances.. Not allowing us to be in... So we walked round and round...
Suddenly Din and i saw a very familiar face! Oh my God!! Raymond Seng was there. He passed by us, then he turned back his head as at the same time we did, he SAW US!!! I was even tinkin earlier, that if we would see him on tat day anot, cos he will go for all these kinds of run, which haf goodies bags one...
And true enough, he was there... He followed us all the way to the floating platform.. Luckily the event had not started yet, he cant come in... haha.. I told Ah Huat to go catch him, as he was the security.. haha...
Later Ah Seng came and took the free rides, since it was FREE mah... He was there taking of gals again!!! He even asked me wer to get the goodies bag.. I told him, if he could get, then get for me oso, cos we dun haf...haha... Later he came back with a goodies, even shared his goodies... So Ah Huat offered him our extra packet of lunch...
From the past day experiences, Din set up a queue area for ppl to queue for registering, so as not to create any confusing.. Then the organisers got another gal, Yiling to help us. Din do the crowd control there.. So each of us was doin something..
But there was not so much ppl as the previous day, so we were quite relaxed after we cleared the queues, while the ppl queued for their rides... The stationed was closed for every performance, as they had to clear the sea for their performance...
They had the China ppl performing water-ski stunts...
Nice rite? the shows was on every 2 hrs...so we had to close the station every 2 hrs.. If not, we are not able to take in some much ppl for the rides in a short period....Yiling and i was wondering if we could take the rides after work anot... So i told Yiling & her fren jus filled in the forms and waited till it was abt time to knock off lor... The station was closed at 330pm due to the overwhelming response. Of cos, alot of ppl were angry cos we told them to come back later for registering, in the end, they couldnt get the ride after waiting for 2hrs...
Asked Chin Pern if he wan to go for the rides anot, he say dun wan, he is at Stadium.. So only Ah Huat & i filled in the forms too, we wanted to take the banana boat ride and jet-ski... So we waited ard the area lor... Until finally the queue left only a few ppl only, one of the lifeguards asked us if we wan take the ride anot, if not haf to wait till next yr liao...
So i asked could we?? He said yes, and told me to get onto the banana boat if there is a vancancy... So i quickly grabbed a lifejacket and jumper down, as they were saying there was a vancancy... Ah Huat took the boat ride, while i shared the banana boat with other 4 gals...
The young lifeguard, Toon Fung, my new fren, was the lifeguard of the banana boat i took. He was shouting to us, wave at the duck tours, blah blah blah...trying to get us enjoy our trip...haha... Then he say hold on tight, jus follow the flow... The boat is getting faster, it is goin to capsize... I told him i cant swim, dun capsize, then he say cannot... Must capsize cos the gals wan capsize... haha...So the boat goes faster and in an instance, we were all dropped into the water!
Luckily i told him i cant swim, cos he immediately grabbed my lifejacket after tat... But i was oredi coughing and drank a mouthful of the sea water liao... then he was asking the rest of them r they ok anot... Tink the gals oso thot i cant swim, cos one of them asked me if i m ok...
I wasnt quite prepared to drop, so drank water...it was all too sudden mah...haha... Then the boat driver was helpin us get up the banana boat and we went back... Ah Huat was laughing at me since i dropped.
When we were back, saw Chin Pern standing there, laughing oso... Oh my god! When is he back?? He saw me wet, told me served me rights for playing...haha...But he was kond enough to go get a new t-shirt for me and lent me his shampoo for bath...
After bath, i came out, din see the guys ard, only the lifeguards there... ToonFung was sayin i bath so fast. Normally gals bath a long time... haha, i told him cos i told someone to wait for me for dinner mah... Meantime while i waited for the guys to be here, was chatting with the lifeguards lor...
Turns out tat they were so young.. ToonFung was jus 18... The guy who looks like Nick, is Don Lee (Lee again!) . Don is a swimming instructor while ToonFung is an ITE student. They are oso part time. Paid $160 for 2 days. Haha...We were paid $100 per day...So good hor?
Anyway, after dinner, we went to office to collect money..Finally!! haha.... $200 cold hard cash man! After that, its finally knock off time!!
Well, this is reali the first time i enjoyed my work so much ever since i started working! Hopefully Chin Pern would give us more part time lobangs next time! :)
